Caring for Arugula Plants

Get your arugula in our Balcony Buckets!

Arugula thrives in very sunny spots when temperatures are below 20 degrees Celsius. Higher temperatures will require a shaded spot to keep your arugula leaves from bolting. Arugula plants make great ground cover around the bases of trees, which could provide the conditions required.

If it's an arid week with no rain, give your arugula plant a good soak, to protect it.

If the temperatures rise too high and your Arugula begins to bolt, get ready to enjoy an Arugula flower that will attempt to drop more seeds into your bucket and start a secondary harvest in the fall.

Arugula can be damaged by quick freezes, so when winter temperatures are approaching, consider moving your arugula indoors to a sunny window or contact us to overwinter your Arugula plant and give it back in the spring. Once the last of the snow melts, your Arugula is ready to sit outside again

Harvest arugula at any stage from seedling to adult. The younger plants are known to have the classic arugula taste and texture that culinary enthusiasts love and crave, but the adult plants are filled with healthy vitamins and nutrients.
